Amarone Classico Zenato 2020

The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico by Zenato faithfully reflects the characteristic attributes of the type, namely warmth, enveloping and softness, while managing not to be heavy or tiring. The Zenato estate represents one of the historic names of the Veronese, founded by Sergio Zenato in 1960 and now led by his children Alberto and Nadia with the support of their mother Clara. The winery is located in Peschiera del Garda, on the Venetian shore of Lake Garda, where the family passionately and precisely engages in a wide production based on the denominations of the territory.

Zenato Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is born from a blend of traditional grape varieties Corvina Veronese (80%), Rondinella (10%), Oseleta (5%) and Croatina (5%), varieties cultivated in the vineyards of the municipality of Sant’Ambrogio. Following the manual harvest, carried out at perfect ripeness with a rigorous selection of the bunches, the grapes are placed in controlled drying in the fruit room for 4 months, during which the berries lose water concentrating the dry substance content. In January, the crushing process is then carried out, to which is followed by a slow alcoholic fermentation on the skins in stainless steel tanks. The aging phase of 36 months takes place in large Slavonian oak barrels and after a further year of refinement in the bottle, the wine is finally ready for market release.

The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico from the family-run Zenato winery has a very intense and consistent ruby red color. Inebriating and articulated hints of ripe cherry, almost in spirits, berries, potpourri, mint, cocoa and coffee characterize the olfactory range. The important warmth and enveloping softness on the palate are well supported by excellent freshness and mature tannins.
