Casaccia di Franceschi
Located between the prestigious territory of Montalcino and the green area of Maremma, the Tuscan wine reality Casaccia di Franceschi was born from the desire of Leopoldo Franceschi to interpret the area in a modern and international way. Leopoldo, a fifth-generation wine producer, is joined in his adventure by his young children Flavia and Federico, who form a close-knit family team. As mentioned, this reality is situated between the territory of Montalcino, where Podere La Casaccia stands, and that of Cinigiano, in the province of Grosseto, where the estate Le Spinaie is located. In particular, Podere La Casaccia is located in the hamlet of Sant’Angelo in Colle, at an altitude of 500 meters, while Le Spinaie is situated at a height of 350 meters above sea level. In addition to wine production, the estate also has olive groves and truffle fields.
grapes grown inspired by the principles of organic farming. The vines grow on clay and limestone soils in the Montalcino area and on clay, marl, and sandy soils in Maremma, ideal for the cultivation of international grape varieties. The harvest is accompanied by a double meticulous selection, both manual in the vineyard and machine in the winery, where cutting-edge technologies such as the optical grape sorter are used. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using the submerged cap technique, keeping the pomace always submerged in the fermenting must. For the subsequent aging phase, French Allier or American oak barriques are used.Whether it is Brunello di Montalcino or expressions from international grapes grown in Maremma, the red wines signed by Casaccia di Franceschi stand out for their structure and intensity, with ripe fruit associated with a complex spicy weave.
