Chateau de Chateauneuf

Chateau de Chateauneuf is a Bordeaux winery with a family character run with passion and expertise by Didier Chinzi, the owner who has entrusted the technical and enological aspects to the skilled consultancy of Jean-François Rontein. The estate is located in Sadirac, in the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers area, the largest subzone of the Bordeaux wine region. In fact, as much as 50% of its total area is reserved for woods, with the remaining half dedicated to vineyards, a testament to the rich biodiversity that characterizes the territory. The name of this territory derives from its peculiar geographical position, being nestled between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers. Indeed, the French expression “entre deux marées” means “between the two tides”.

The vineyards owned by Chateau de Chateauneuf extend over just under 25 hectares, mainly reserved for the classic Bordeaux grape varieties Merlot and Cabernet Franc, as well as the white grapes Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. The vines are planted on two different types of hilly soils: one rich in clay, silt, and gravel, located on the plateau at 100 meters above

sea level, and the other more calcareous, characterized by rather steep slopes. The enological belief is based on the desire to accompany winemaking with precise and targeted interventions. According to this philosophy, the clusters of red varieties are first destemmed and crushed, and then subjected to a pre-fermentation maceration of as much as 7 days. After this period, the grapes are pressed in stainless steel tanks, where the correct course of alcoholic fermentation is ensured by the inoculation of selected yeasts. The fermentation process takes place at controlled temperature in contact with the skins, accompanied by two daily pump-overs.

The reds from Chateau de Chateauneuf present the characteristic fruity and balsamic profile of Bordeaux wines, further enhanced by the winemaking approach. On the palate, these Bordeaux Rouge are characterized by a smooth and juicy drink, never heavy, also thanks to the overall balance and the soft tannic structure.
