Tenuta Crocedimezzo
Tenuta Crocedimezzo is a family-run wine estate committed to bringing out the true character of Brunello di Montalcino through a production philosophy placed between modernity and tradition. The winery, located in La Croce, just three kilometers southeast of the historic center of Montalcino, was founded in 1971 and has always distinguished itself for its precise and passionate approach, prerequisites that lead to the creation of finely crafted wines, appreciated and celebrated by international critics. The greatness of this reality has been brought by the Nannetti-Vannoni family, first represented by Paolo Nannetti and Fiorella Vannoni and then by their children Roberto and Barbara. Since 2022, ownership has passed to the Piedmontese brothers Enrico and Marco Faccenda, skilled winemakers already owners of the important Roero estate Cascina Chicco. Alongside the winemaking activity, the winery also dedicates itself to the production of extra virgin olive oil, Brunello grappa, and rosolio, an ancient liqueur particularly widespread in Renaissance Italy.
Sangiovese Grosso is the protagonist of the vineyard park of Tenuta Crocedimezzo, alongside which a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon is found. The rows are arranged at an altitude of 480 meters above sea level on the eastern slope of the Montalcino production area. Once the clusters have reached the perfect stage of ripeness, manual harvesting and careful selection of the grapes are carried out, followed by red winemaking at controlled temperature. For the subsequent aging phase, oak barrels of different sizes and origins are used, such as large Slovenian and Allier oak barrels of 25 and 32 hectoliters, 5 hectoliter tonneaux, and French Allier barriques.
The selection of labels signed Tenuta Crocedimezzo consists solely of red wines of great complexity and character. In particular, the core of the production is represented by Brunello di Montalcino, declined in the "classic" and Riserva versions, accompanied by a fresh Rosso di Montalcino and a modern-style Supertuscan.
