Tombolini

The Marchigiana winery Tombolini is a family-run business operating within the territory of Staffolo, on the southern side of the classic area of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, a grape and a place that the Tombolini family values with pride and passion. The beginnings of the family's winemaking activity date back to 1944, when Sante Tombolini, an established merchant of spices, liqueurs, and distillates from the municipality of Loreto, decided to purchase the first vineyards driven by the success of the wines and sparkling wines from the nearby Castelli di Jesi. The activity was then significantly expanded by his sons Paolo and especially Giovanni during the '50s and '60s, with the brothers decisively focusing on quality by introducing cutting-edge techniques for the time. Under Giovanni, the estate achieved several milestones, becoming one of the first in the '50s to use amphorae in winemaking and to work with Verdicchio in purity in temperature-controlled steel in the '70s. He also launched the brand 'Castelfiora', an internationally successful brand. In the '90s, Fulvia Tombolini, Giovanni's daughter, renewed the estate by directing production towards environmental sustainability, while today it is his son Carlo who leads the winery with the same boldness and innovative spirit of his predecessors.

The estate Tombolini has 30 hectares, all located in the territory of Staffolo and all dedicated to Verdicchio, the flagship grape of the area. The rows are situated at an altitude ranging from 220 to 300 meters above sea level and rest on soils made up of clay-limestone veins alternating with sands, sandstones, and blue clays. The microclimate is also very suited for quality viticulture thanks to the significant continental temperature excursions that clash with the breezes coming from the Adriatic Sea. The harvest is done by hand, and various materials are used for fermentation and aging containers, such as stainless steel tanks, concrete vats, wooden barrels, and even ceramic amphorae.

of the Tombolini winery is focused on only two labels: two Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore that express the exceptional qualitative potential of the denomination. In addition to their seductive organoleptic characteristics, these wines also impress with their longevity, as well as their peculiar amphora-shaped packaging that has distinguished Tombolini wines for over 70 years.
