The MonteRè from Vigne dei Boschi is a splendid version of Albana, distinguished by its vibrant and distinctly mineral character. Another convincing interpretation by Paolo and Katia Babini, guardians of several vineyards in Valpiana di Brisighella, Romagna. What amazes about their wines is the absolute taste focus, which does not hinder a constant expressive spontaneity, supported by serious work in the vineyard, where organic and biodynamic practices are used, and in the cellar where spontaneous fermentations and long macerations are carried out for red wines. Albana, Sangiovese, Trebbiano, and Pagadebit find in this small plateau one of their chosen places, and the results in the bottle and glass speak clearly: wines we would always want on our daily table, also due to their masterful ability to accompany food!
Paolo, the Monterè also comes from very healthy grapes, without the use of chemical or synthetic substances in the vineyard. After the manual harvest of the grapes and their destemming, spontaneous fermentation begins in second-pass French oak barriques, without any filtration of the liquid. The aging of the liquid always takes place in second-pass barriques for 24 months.
The Vigna dei Boschi Monterè presents itself in the glass with a splendid intense golden yellow. Just bringing it to the nose reveals what it is made of, without hesitation or delay. A picture of great complexity, where notes of lime, green apple, and lemon balm chase each other, along with clear mineral bursts, almost reminiscent of Riesling. Extremely varied, it manages to always maintain a fresh and cheerful aspect that is also found on the palate. Undoubtedly, the wine has body, but its substance is lightened by a significant dose of freshness, as well as plenty of salt. Elegance and poise, for a wine that openly faces the everyday table, rewarding it!
