Pinot Grigio 'Rocciaponca' Tenuta Sant'Helena - Fantinel 2025
The Pinot Grigio “Tenuta Sant’Helena” by Fantinel can be defined as a true ambassador of its origin territory: Collio. The winery has always emphasized passion, tradition, and innovation, resulting in bottles that testify to and express the production philosophy. To make this wine even more intriguing and recognizable, we must also take into great consideration the microclimate enjoyed by the vineyards of this Pinot Grigio, which are located not far from the Slovenian border.
The terroir where the roots of the “Tenuta Sant’Helena” Pinot Grigio by Fantinel lie is known as Ponca. It is a blend of marls and sandstones that over the years has become a reference point and influenced the production styles of wineries. Obviously, this Pinot Grigio is no exception and, after careful harvesting, the picked fruits are initially treated with prefermentative cryomaceration, useful for enriching and enhancing the final result. Subsequently, fermentation takes place in controlled temperature steel tanks and the process concludes with a short maturation in steel barrels.
controlled temperature steel and the process concludes with a short maturation in steel barrels. The Fantinel “Tenuta Sant’Helena” Pinot Grigio presents itself with a distinct straw yellow color with slightly coppery edges. On the nose, it opens with the delicacy of peach and ripe apricot, but it is over time that it manages to express its true character, gifting us notes of hay and toasted dried fruit like hazelnuts and almonds. On the palate, the minerality and freshness are the faithful indicators of the terroir; with superb structure and a shy salty hint, this Pinot Grigio makes harmony and coherence two of its best characteristics. The sip closes with that toasted almond already presented to us on the nose. Rich and never trivial, this interpretation of Pinot Grigio has the extraordinary ability to be paired with a wide range of dishes, but it also has the structure and character to be enjoyed alone, preferably with a good novel as a travel companion.
