Brama

Brama is a winemaking reality located in Caggiano, in the province of Salerno, which, embracing a craft production philosophy, produces wines of undeniable quality and strong personality, often outside the box. Caggiano is a mountain municipality situated on the slopes of the Lucanian Apennines, at an altitude of 800 meters above sea level. The project is led by Gennaro Di Maggio, known as “Rino”, and Tiziana Teodoro, a couple who, to emphasize their passion and desire to produce wine, chose the name Brama, an abbreviation of the term “bramosia”. Before embarking on this adventure in the name of sustainability, the couple worked at an important agricultural estate in the area, only to later decide to go independent by recovering vineyards planted in the 1960s.

The varietal platform available to the Brama winery, spread over about 3 hectares of vines, is quite broad and varied, with the indigenous Fiano and Aglianico alongside Sangiovese, Barbera, Trebbiano, and Moscato, as well as the international varieties Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot, often recovered from old plantings. The vineyards are are located at an altitude ranging from 350 to as much as 800 meters above sea level, on soils that are sometimes clayey-limestone and other times rich in skeleton and clay. The agronomic management is based on the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, with a sincere respect for the health of the environment. In the winery, where pellicular macerations are frequently adopted even for white grapes, fermentations mostly take place in steel containers, while for subsequent aging, predominantly French oak barriques and tonneaux are used.

Thus, the very limited production of the Brama winery is characterized by charming label names that reflect the romantic and typically Campanian spirit of Gennaro and Tiziana. These are original and authentic expressions, capable of showcasing a new face of Campanian winemaking.
