Maison aux Lorettes
Maison aux Lorettes is a wine estate in Bordeaux that, through a handcrafted production approach, creates truly genuine expressions respecting the utmost spontaneity of the winemaking process. The Maison is located between the areas of Côtes de Bourg and Côtes de Bordeaux Blaye, on the right bank of the Dordogne and Gironde rivers, precisely within the municipality of Lansac. Surrounded by woods and cultivated fields in a setting of flourishing biodiversity, the estate is led by Pierre-Henri Cosyns, who personally oversees the oenological aspect.
The vineyards of the Bordeaux winery Maison aux Lorettes benefit from a maritime continental climate, characterized by sunny summers moderated by the nearby presence of the Atlantic Ocean and the Dordogne and Gironde rivers. The plants, situated on gentle hills, are managed under certified organic farming, complemented by biodynamic practices. The principal variety of the territory is Merlot, a grape that on the right bank of the Bordeaux area yields the best results. In the winery, fermentations occur spontaneously thanks to the exclusive intervention of the yeasts present on the grapes and in the winery environment, and for winemaking, stainless steel or concrete tanks are used. The subsequent aging mostly takes place in concrete and steel, while the use of new woods is well considered. Furthermore, the wines are often processed and bottled without added sulfites, as in the case of Côtes de Bordeaux Blaye ‘Pour Amélie’.
The selection of labels from Maison aux Lorettes is far from the stereotype of concentrated and full-bodied Bordeaux wines, rich in aromas derived from the use of barriques. Instead, they are fresh and juicy interpretations with a handcrafted spirit, the result of a genuine style and greater verticality that aims to break with the Bordeaux classicism, representing the new wine generation of Bordeaux.
