Mark Haisma

Mark Haisma is a talented producer of Australian origin who interprets with fidelity and respect the noble wine-growing territory of Burgundy, creating expressions of great typicity. The project was launched within a small winery in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. For many years, Mark Haisma managed the winemaking aspect of the renowned Australian estate Yarra Yering, located in the State of Victoria, deciding in 2009 to move to France to start producing wine as a micro-négociant in Burgundy and Northern Rhône. In fact, even now, in addition to the production he derives from the few hectares he owns, Mark purchases grapes from trusted local farmers who share his philosophy. The winemaker's goal is to enhance the peculiar character of the different climat he works with.

The worked varieties include Chardonnay and, above all, Pinot Noir, grape varieties that have contributed to writing the winemaking history of Burgundy, also accompanied by the other native Aligoté. The harvest is carried out entirely by hand, and the bunches are vinified partly whole, mostly in cement tanks, adopting very delicate extraction techniques aimed at extracting only the noblest compounds contained in the berries. The aging takes place in small French oak barrels according to the Burgundian tradition, with a well-considered use of new woods, usually in the order of 10-20%.

Mark Haisma's labels are produced in very limited quantities and are sought after by enthusiasts and collectors from all over the world. The crus vinified by the producer include some famous plots such as Pommard Premier Cru ‘Clos des Arvelets’, Volnay Premier Cru ‘Les Fremiets’, Echezeaux Grand Cru, and Morey Saint-Denis Premier Cru ‘Les Chaffots’, authentic interpretations of these prestigious climat.
