Belisario
In the heart of the Alta Valle Esina, in an area that combines the influence of continental and Mediterranean climate, Cantina Belisario was founded in 1971. Today, it is one of the most representative wine companies in the Marche region, with 300 hectares of directly cultivated vineyards and a production capacity of 30,000 hectoliters. The headquarters is in Matelica, where all the vineyards are located no more than ten minutes from the winery, allowing for precise and timely control of every phase of the production process. Belisario is now the largest producer of Verdicchio di Matelica DOC, a symbol wine of the Marche territory, known for its strong character and high recognizability. With two distinct brands – “Belisario” for the restaurant sector and “Poggio alle Rondini” for large distribution – the company is a reference point in the production of typical whites, faithful to the genius loci of the Marche.
climate-controlled. The timing of the harvest is determined through ripening curves for each individual wine, confirming the scientific and tailored approach adopted. The microclimate of the Alta Valle Esina, with strong temperature variations and abundant sunlight, allows for complete, sometimes extreme, ripening and a high aromatic concentration. The selected grapes show an intact acidic heritage and a limited production, which gives life to structured, long-lived, and always recognizable wines. The company has about 24 hectares cultivated according to organic farming criteria, demonstrating a concrete commitment to quality and sustainability.
The technical director is the oenologist Roberto Potentini, a reference figure for Marche winemaking, with a solid academic and professional career. Under his direction, the winery has managed to combine innovation and respect for tradition, consolidating a unique production style that cannot be replicated elsewhere. In addition to Verdicchio, Belisario works with other native varieties such as Vernaccia di Serrapetrona and Lacrima di Morro d’Alba, which help to tell the sensory richness of the Marche. The company's mission is clear: to create good, typical, and recognizable wines that are an authentic expression of the territory, without chasing trends but affirming a distinctive style.
