Les Vignes de l'Amandier
The small wine-growing reality Les Vignes de l’Amandier operates within the municipality of Régnié-Durette, in the Beaujolais area, respecting the environment and the expression of the territory. Founded in 2019, this young Domaine is committed to enhancing the AOC of Régnié, the last established among the crus of Beaujolais, nestled between Morgon and Brouilly and characterized by rather high altitudes, as well as a very high presence of granite in the soils. The soul of the estate is Arnal Claire, a producer with a long past at the BRGM, the French institute of geological and mining research of which she was also the director, who decided to embark on this wine adventure in Beaujolais after attending a course in viticulture and oenology.
The estate of Les Vignes de l’Amandier comprises just 3 hectares of vineyards located in the cru of Régnié and planted exclusively with Gamay, the principal variety of the Beaujolais territory. The vines, some of which are over 50 years old, rest on soils granite and are conducted according to the principles of organic farming. The harvest is done by hand and the bunches are vinified whole through alcoholic fermentation and carbonic maceration. The pressing at the racking is done using an old vertical press while the subsequent maturation phase takes place in stainless steel tanks or in used oak barrels, employed to round out the tannins and soften the taste without, however, yielding excessive wood aromas.
The labels of the Les Vignes de l’Amandier winery revolve around the cru of Régnié, interpreted in a pure manner according to different declinations. Among these, the Régnié ‘Afterwork’ represents the freshest and most accessible expression, with great drinkability, while the Régnié ‘Les Tilleuls’, named after the homonymous parcel from which the grapes come, has greater complexity and structure. Finally, the Régnié ‘Myx’ is appreciated for its balanced and juicy taste, delicately spiced.
