Shukhrat Khakimov
Shukhrat Khakimov & Viticultores represents a Spanish wine reality committed to the production of unconventional wines through a approach based on biodynamics and a minimalist enology. The project was initiated by the young Shukhrat Khakimov, a producer originally from Kazakhstan but long dedicated to wine production in the area, always with a spirit inclined towards experimentation. Shukhrat collaborates with a group of producers, oenologists, and wine enthusiasts with the aim of offering unconventional wines produced mainly along the Mediterranean strip of the Iberian Peninsula, the so-called Spanish Levante. The project is based in the municipality of Sant Joan d’Alacant, located just north of the city of Alicante.
The hectares of vineyard managed by the Shukhrat Khakimov & Viticultores reality are distributed in different areas of the Spanish Levante, characterized by a remarkable soil heterogeneity, and are cultivated by hand following the dictates of organic agriculture and the biodynamics. The vineyard park includes a wide combination of local and international varieties, including Alicante Bouschet, Monastrell, Macabeo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Moravia Agria, Tardana, Malvasia, Semillon, and Viognier. In the winery, the philosophy of minimal oenological intervention prevails, with fermentations entrusted solely to indigenous yeasts and the total exclusion of additives and oenological aids, including sulfites, which are not used at any stage of the production process. Among other things, stainless steel tanks and French oak barriques are adopted as wine containers.
White, red, rosé, orange, and bottle-refermented wines: the types and styles of wine produced by Shukhrat Khakimov & Viticultores are quite varied and express the unconventional and eccentric vision of the producer. Among the selections offered, the ‘031/TEO’ project stands out, which includes artisanal monovarietal expressions packaged with labels illustrated by Shukhrat Khakimov's young son, Teo, to whom the name of the line is dedicated.
