Tonini

Located in Isera, a municipality on the southern slope of the Trento DOC area, the Tonini winery is a key player in the production of both sparkling wines and Marzemino, a traditional black grape variety. The Tonini family, owners of the estate, has always dedicated itself to viticulture in the Vallagarina, the territory where the municipality of Isera is located, but officially began the modern history of the winery only in 2011, with the sale of the first bottles marketed under the family name. At the helm of the estate are Marco Tonini, founder of the project, and his son Filippo, who has strong credentials from his studies at the Agricultural Institute of San Michele all’Adige.

The Tonini family cultivates approximately 8 hectares of vineyards, reserved for the white grape varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco, intended for sparkling wine production, as well as the Marzemino grape, used for the production of still red wines. The rows, situated at altitudes reaching up to 800 meters above sea level, are cultivated using environmentally friendly practices based on the principles of organic farming. The plants benefit from the particular microclimate of the area, resulting from the cold alpine air and the mitigating influence of Lake Garda. Furthermore, the vineyards lie on well-sunlit hillside slopes, a factor that contributes to the perfect ripening of the grapes. All vinifications take place in stainless steel tanks, aimed at enhancing the freshness and varietal attributes of the grapes. For the sparkling wines, the second fermentation occurs in the bottle according to the Classic Method, associated with long aging on the lees, which is important for giving structure and depth to the wine. Additionally, to enhance their expressive purity, these sparkling wines are marketed as Brut Nature, excluding any dosage.

The Trento DOC sparkling wines from the Tonini winery, the pride of the family, reflect the mountain spirit of the denomination, with an unusual freshness and mineral character that can give momentum to the tasting progression.
