On the hills of Castelvetro di Modena lies Tenuta La Fiaminga of Sebastian Van de Sype, a winemaker guided by three fundamental values: passion, authenticity, and perseverance. This young winery was established in 2020 with the premise of offering pleasant and quality wines, produced in harmony with nature and the territory. After over 10 years of experience in Formula 1 engineering, Sebastian radically changed his life in pursuit of a dream, supported by his wife and two children. He is also a long-time partner and friend of Frank Cornelissen, a well-known Belgian producer on Etna who advises him on every aspect of the business.
Tenuta La Fiaminga of Sebastian Van de Sype consists of almost 10 total hectares, more than half of which are dedicated to the cultivation of Lambrusco di Grasparossa, the identity grape of the winery that has its place of election in the Castelvetro area, alongside a small portion of Trebbiano. The vineyards, surrounded by woods in a context of remarkable biodiversity, are managed according to the principles of organic agriculture.organic. Where possible, all mechanization is completely avoided in favor of manual operations, and the grapes are destemmed before maceration and gentle pressing. Fermentations are initiated through the pied de cuve technique, which involves preparing a fermentative starter by crushing a certain quantity of grapes and allowing indigenous yeasts to begin the transformation process, then inoculating the first fermenting must into the fresh must of the actual harvest. Subsequently, the sparkling processes are carried out using the Ancestral Method or the traditional method, the latter executed using the frozen fresh must of the same vintage as the source of sugars for the tirage. All operations take place in steel tanks without the use of additives and excluding the use of clarifications.
