Domaine Clo
Domaine Clo is a winery in the Loire Valley that operates with the utmost respect for the health of the soil, plants, and the environment in general, creating labels that speak of their terroir. The Domaine is located in Vaudelnay, in the Anjou-Saumur area, where winemaker Cyril Leau nurtures the family wine tradition, which has been engaged in winemaking for three generations. Cyril took over the family Domaine in 2015, immediately embracing a sustainable agronomic philosophy and a minimalist enology, establishing himself as an authentic interpreter of the territory. The vineyards are located between the subzones of Anjou Blanc, Anjou Noir, and the Brossay plateau, places where Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc reign. Among Cyril's core values, the safeguarding of biodiversity plays a key role, and to this end, the winemaker promotes the cultivation of various species of trees and shrubs around the vineyards, having also founded the association Le Verre de Terre with the aim of promoting biodiversity and rebalancing the vineyard landscape.
The Domaine Clo extends over 25 hectares of vineyards, all managed under certified organic regime on soils characterized by an abundant presence of gypsum, schist, clay, and flint, geological matrices that are the basis of the exceptional mineral vein of the produced wines. Furthermore, the cool oceanic climate with continental influences that characterizes the Anjou-Saumur area enhances the freshness and aromas of the wines. The cultivated varieties include Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc, and Gamay, grape varieties traditionally grown in the area. As wine containers for aging the wines, among others, old oak barrels stored in the underground cellar of the Domaine are used.
The wines of Domaine Clo stand out for their vibrant freshness and minerality, attributes typical of the Anjou-Saumur area. The labels include white, red, rosé, and sparkling wines of fine craftsmanship, expressions of commendable pleasantness and typicity.
