Domaine Courbet

Immersed in the heart of the Baume-les-Messieurs valley, one of the most fascinating places in the Jura, Domaine Courbet represents one of the historical realities of this region. Founded in 1869, the domaine is now led by Jean-Marie and Damien, who have inherited and renewed a family tradition of over a century. Nevy-sur-Seille, home to the winery, is a charming village located in an area with a strong wine identity, famous for the production of characteristic wines such as those from the Château-Chalon and Côtes du Jura denominations. The path of Domaine Courbet is marked by an important evolution: from mixed origins, between livestock and cereal cultivation, it has arrived at an exclusive dedication to the vine, establishing the company among the protagonists of the French and international wine scene, especially thanks to the enhancement of indigenous grape varieties and the ever-increasing quality of its wines.

favor optimal ripening of the grapes. The soils in the area offer great complexity: Savagnin, cultivated on 4 hectares, grows on blue, gray, and red marls, while Chardonnay (3.05 hectares) develops on clayey soils with limestone presence. The red grape varieties, such as Trousseau and Poulsard, find their home on marls with calcareous gravel, characteristics that give structure and finesse to the wines. Since 2004, the family has undertaken the conversion to biodynamics, completed in 2015, and since 2016 all wines bear the organic certification, a testament to a philosophy that combines tradition, sustainability, and attention to biodiversity.

Domaine Courbet is now known for its production linked to the emblematic grape varieties of the Jura, with particular attention to oxidative wines and Savagnin, the base of the famous Vin Jaune. Among the most representative products are the labels Château-Chalon and Côtes du Jura, wines that authentically express the minerality of the soils and the typicality of the territory. The constant pursuit of quality, combined with a modern and respectful vision of nature, makes the domaine a reference point for wine enthusiasts and professionals. Each bottle tells the story of a family, of a unique terroir, and of a region that continues to surprise with its extraordinary oenological richness.
