Halarà

Halarà is a beautiful artisanal project born from the collaboration of six close-knit winemakers intent on expressing the Mediterranean essence of Sicily. We are in the territory of Marsala, precisely in contrada Abbadessa, the place chosen by our protagonists to begin this joint adventure, embarked upon in 2019 after a vacation spent in Greece. These include Francesco De Franco from the Calabrian winery ‘A Vita, Nino Barraco, Stefano Amerighi, Corrado Dottori from the Marchigian estate La Distesa, Giovanni Scarfone from the Sicilian winery Bonavita, and Francesco Ferreri from the Pantellerian reality Tanca Nica. The friendship and shared passion for the artisanal wine world drove these six winemakers to acquire a small plot of 2 hectares, relying on the nearby winery of Nino Barraco for vinification. The name Halarà, “Χαλάρα” in Greek, can be translated with the English expression “take it easy”, reflecting the mindset of the producer friends.

Under the Halarà project, the six winemakers cultivate Catarratto and Parpato grapes, with the latter representing a rare black grape variety
