Tutti Frutti Ananas

The artisanal Italo-French project Tutti Frutti Ananas was born with the aim of highlighting the most vibrant, fresh, and easy-drinking face of Roussillon, a wine region in the south of France located at the foot of the eastern Pyrenees. The reality is particularly based in the territory of Banyuls-sur-Mer, where Manuel Di Vecchi Staraz, a young producer of Florentine origin and owner of the winery Vinyer de la Ruca, collaborates with other artisanal winemakers, including Joaquim Roque, a Spanish producer from Domaine Carterole, and Zé Tafé from La Cave des Nomades, as well as his Neapolitan friend Francesco Pesci from the small reality Les Ânes Ailés. In particular, Manuel takes care of the vinifications, Joaquim is responsible for vineyard management while Zé Tafé focuses on the commercial aspect. The cheerful name Tutti Frutti Ananas aims to emphasize the carefree and never demanding character of the production, in contrast to the warm and structured wines traditionally made in the Banyuls-sur-Mer area.

The varieties worked by Tutti Frutti Ananas include Mourvèdre, Syrah, Grenache Noir, Carignan, GrenacheGris, Macabeu, and Vermentino, as well as Garganega, Barbera, and Merlot grapes from trusted winemakers in Veneto. In general, the plants are cultivated sustainably, respecting the principles of organic farming, benefiting from the typically Mediterranean climate of the Banyuls-sur-Mer territory, as well as the schistous nature of the soils. The enological approach often involves whole cluster vinifications with strictly spontaneous fermentations, as well as the use of different types of wine containers, such as steel tanks, cement vats, and old oak barrels, each capable of enhancing specific traits of the wines. Throughout the entire production process, the use of clarification and filtration operations is excluded while the additions of sulfites are either non-existent or minimal.

As mentioned, the wines of Tutti Frutti Ananas stand out for their tense and dynamic drinkability, full of energy, expressing the artisanal and modern vision that accompanies the protagonists of the project.
