V&G Dupont
The champenoise reality V&G Dupont produces balanced and pleasant Champagne, whose genuineness reflects the sustainability principles on which the estate's production philosophy is based. At the helm of the winery, located in Reuves, are the spouses Valérie and Gaël Dupont, who merged the vineyards inherited from their respective families to start their own winemaking project. Since 2015, the estate has begun the transition towards agroecology, and starting from 2020, it has initiated the conversion to organic farming. For winemaking, the couple relies on the local cooperative, which since 2019 has allowed them to vinify the grapes from their vineyards, producing Champagne under their own name.
The V&G Dupont estate comprises just 5 hectares of vineyards, dedicated to the traditional champenoise varieties Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir, planted in clay-limestone soils. The vineyards are scattered across 10 villages in the Marne department, including Brimont, Vert-Toulon, and Allemant, municipalities located within the wine-growing areas of the Saint-Thierry massif, of the Coteaux du Petits Morins and the Coteaux du Sézannais. The agronomic management embraced by Valérie and Gaël is based on agroecology, a discipline aimed at conserving biodiversity and regenerating and preserving the biological health of the soil by adopting non-invasive agricultural methods, as well as techniques such as phytotherapy and agroforestry. In the cellar, the sparkling process is carried out in the bottle according to the Metodo Champenoise, and the wines are finally marketed without any dosage or with low dosages.
The production of the V&G Dupont winery is divided into three different lines: ‘Eveil’, a faithful reflection of the estate's agronomic approach, derived from a selection of the best plots cultivated by Valérie and Gaël; ‘Terroir et Caractère’, expressions of the terroir of Baye and Talus Saint Prix, cradle of the cooperative; and finally ‘Intemporels’, a selection of multiple terroirs that reflect the varied facets of the Champagne region. Beyond the label in question, the Champagnes signed by V&G Dupont are appreciated for their soft and creamy taste, of great balance.
