Vadin-Plateau

In the heart of the Vallée de la Marne, in the Premier Cru village of Cumières, lies the Maison Vadin-Plateau, a family-run business that has dedicated itself to the production of Champagne for over two centuries. Founded in 1765 by Joseph Plateau, the family’s history has been deeply intertwined with that of Champagne viticulture, spanning nine generations. Each generational transition has marked an important milestone: from the creation of the first brand by Rémy Plateau to the marriage of his daughter Yvette to Guy Vadin, who in 1958 gave the maison its current name. Today, it is Yann, representing the ninth generation, who leads the company with a contemporary spirit and a sustainable vision, combining tradition and innovation. With seven hectares spread across seven villages – including Aÿ, Hautvillers, and Pourcy – the Maison stands out for the quality of its plots, located on well-exposed slopes that ensure ideal conditions for cultivation.

grown without the use of chemicals and with practices that promote the natural balance of the soil and the plant. The vineyards are exclusively located on southern and southeastern slopes and comprise 44% Meunier, 39% Pinot Noir, and 17% Chardonnay. Meunier, in particular, finds an authentic and characteristic expression in this area. In the cellar, fermentations are carried out with indigenous yeasts, without temperature control, and the wines are not filtered. This approach allows for the production of Champagne with great personality, mineral and dynamic, that fully reflect the diversity of the terroir and the identity of each parcel. Every detail of the winemaking process is designed to enhance the purity and sincerity of the wine.

In addition to its attention to the environment, Vadin-Plateau impresses with the consistency and passion with which it carries out a family-run artisanal project. The choice to remain a recoltant-manipulant, that is, to vinify only estate-grown grapes, ensures total control over quality. Its Champagnes, appreciated by enthusiasts for their liveliness and authenticity,

tell not only the story of the Vallée de la Marne but also three centuries of family history. Yann, with a deep enological knowledge, has been able to evolve the maison without betraying its origins, creating identity-driven, sincere, and modern labels. The wines stand out for their balance, structure, and unmistakable style, the result of long experience and deep respect for nature.
